What To Do After You Say "I Do"
The planning doesn't stop after the honeymoon.  This is the part where you begin to blend your lives together.  It's an exciting time, but can also get confusing.

Something you may not know is that you don't get an official copy of your marriage license

when the wedding officient signs it, you will need to send away for it.  This process can take up to six or even eight weeks.  You will need this document to prove you're married.  The information of where to send away for an official copy of your marriage license may be with the documents you receive when you go to get the paperwork for your marriage license.  If not, give them a call after the wedding and ask them what you need to do, it varies by state. Ask for more than one copy, because some businesses require an official copy and not just a photocopy of your official copy.

Changing Your Name?
If you're changing your name, you need to change your name on your social security card first.  Not all states will change your name on your drivers license if you haven't already changed your social security.  After Social Security, change your drivers license, other changes will be easier if you change these two first.  Remember to bring an official copy of your marriage license with you!

Make a list of all the places you will need to change your name and or address. You may want to add your new spouse your life insurance, car registration, etc. Make a list, it will make it easier to keep track of.  You can download our list for free.
